Here is the updated race map posted by Dindo. I’ve included the 5K and 10K turn around. Visit Dindo’s site for his commentary on the 25K route.

I just installed Google Earth on my laptop because I heard that some runners are using it to measure the distance of their route. Seeing DATC’s comment on the 25K route made me working on my first google earth project – New Balance Power Race 25 K Map! Just click on the image to get a larger view.

I got a chance to take pictures of the singlets for the VSO and UNICEF runs this November. There were registration booths for the 2 runs in today’s OctobeRun Festival. Visit http://runrio.com for more details:

- Ample supply of water. The water stations are placed just right.

- Good 10K distance. My Nike+ sportband measured it as 10.4I.

- Different starting times for 10K, 5K and 3K. There was a 2 minute interval between the starting times.

- Met runner bloggers Bro J, Taki, Philip, Bald Runner and Jaymie (TBR) for the first time. Good to see Loonyrunner, Bugobugo, Jinoe and Que and the “missing” Prom.

 - New PR for me! Unofficial time according to my Nike+ sportsband is 55:57. It was a surprise since I played volleyball the night before and only had 3 hours of sleep plus a slight pain on my right knee (my excuses just in case I have a bad time…hehe).

I went to New Balance Glorietta today before heading to my volleyball practice to claim my singlet and race packet. I was surprised to see the singlet being white and red instead of white and blue for 5K and 10K. But then again, the color would match my red NB 835 I will be using come race day. ;)

I live in Novaliches QC very near SM Fairview and there is this Neopolitan Business Park (beside SM Fairview) where I see a lot of people running, biking and doing exercises whenever I go to the office in the morning. I was thinking about doing a Saturday run since I initially do not have any volleyball games this weekend (although at the last minute our team scheduled a practice in the afternoon) and the this could be a perfect time to try out the area.

I woke up at around 5:30 am this morning, put on my Nike running shorts, socks, shoes, sportsband, PMI singlet and proceeded running. My planned route was – Zabarte Road, Quirino Highway, Regalado Ave, Neopolitan Business Park then back to our village.  I figured that the route would be about 5km.

I ran a much slower pace than what I do during races. Although there were a lot of vehicles along Zabarte Road and Quirino Highway, I managed to get to my destination without problems.  Seeing a lot of runners and bikers at Neopolitan made me feel relieved and not alone anymore. It was a perfect place do your runs – no cars, no pollution, trees lining the roads and it has a 1km loop. I did 3 rounds before headding back home.

All in all I completed 7kms and found a new haven to do my practice runs.

We won game 2 and clinch the Men’s division championship trophy of the 2008 ADB Volleyball Tournament. Accenture won over Claret in a close match: 25-27, 25-22, 29-27 and 25-22.

Congratulations Team! Goodluck to the Accenture Women’s Team on Game 3.

Both the Accenture Men’s and Women’s team won their matches against Claret and Meralco respectively to be one game away from clinching the 2008 ADB Volleyball Tournament championship.

The Men’s team won against Claret in straight sets, while the Women’s team dropped the 1st set but won the 2nd, 3rd and 4th set.

Game 2 and possibly the last game will be on Thursday with the Women’s finals at 6:30PM followed by the Men’s finals at 8pm.

Here are some of the volleyball action from last night’s game.

P.S. I got a “tocino” on my right knee while diving for the ball during the first set.  Don’t worry, it’s not that serious. I can still play on Thursday and it will dry up in time for Sunday’s OctobeRun. :)

Just wanted to share the incident experienced by fellow Happy Feet runners Let and Erick during Botak Paa-Bilisan last Sunday. Their new SLR camera and cellphone were stolen probably while the race is ongoing. Here is part of Let’s email to the Happy Feet group:

“but something bad happened that race day sa amin, naka park kami
malapit sa rox, ninakaw ang camera namin at celphone ko which i think
happened habang tumatakbo kami, sinungkit yung sasakyan namin at
kinuha ang mga yun.

ni-report namin sa police (and were not hoping na marerecover pa ang
obligasyon nila), i felt so sad nung time na yun, almost 6mos. pa lang
sa amin yung slr na camera na yun. pero sabi ni erick pasalamat pa din
kami sa Diyos kasi hindi kinuha yung sasakyan.”

I heard that this is not the first time this incident happen. May this serve as a warning to other runners to take the necessary precaution.

  • I was targeting 55 minutes but wasn’t able to get it. Instead, I finished the 10K course with an unofficial time of 58:19 still a PR! Thanks to fitmommy for pacing me. Try natin uli i-break ang 55 minutes sa next run.
  • Forgot to bring my camera. Good thing I have my camera phone ready and I was able to get great and interesting photos.
